Set to air on the BBC next year, the series is currently being filmed at Aardman's studio in Bristol. The series is set on a farm and will introduce a host of new characters such as Bitzer the Sheep Dog, BFS The Big Fluffy Sheep and the Flock who are happy to follow Shaun throughout his adventures. Whilst made for children's television the series is expected to cross all age groups just as the Wallace and Gromit films do. It will broadcast on BBC Television.
Christine Nicholls, marketing director of Golden Bear said: “We are delighted to be working alongside a creative team such as Aardman – the character of Shaun the Sheep gives Golden Bear massive scope for product development due to the nature of his character and of course his mass appeal. As with all Aardman productions, we are sure that the new programme will be a phenomenal hit and our products will be positioned to complement the show perfectly.”
The new toy range will launch next year to coincide with the programme’s broadcast. Appealing to children and adults alike, the products based on the brand new Aardman animated Shaun will create a whole new ‘flock’ of Shaun the Sheep fans.
Sean Clarke, head of licensing and marketing at Aardman Animations added: "Shaun the Sheep is a major new property for Aardman and we are happy that he is in the hands of the highly qualified team at Golden Bear. We look forward to seeing the new range of toys early next year."
Launching in spring/summer 2007, the range will include a Wind Up Walking Shaun, a Shivering Shaun that bleats and a bleating bendy-legged Shaun. In Autumn, the range will be extended to include more innovative items for children which will not only feature Shaun but incorporate some of the new characters such as Bitzer the Dog and the Naughty Pigs.
