McMurdo entered the Den in 2007 with his Shopping Trollet Chair, Wash Drum Table and Ben the Bin. He left with £50k investment from Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis

BBTradesales begun distributing Ben the Bin and Fat Birds, a bird feeder made from excess household cooking fat, in 2011. Within a year he has been employed as an in-house designer for BBTradesales.

Ian Williams, founder of BBTradesales commented: “We are delighted to have Max on-board with BBTradesales. He is an extremely talented designer and an excellent addition to our growing design team, enabling us to bring the most innovative products to market."

McMurdo's passion for design began when he was a schoolboy where he used to like “drawing on every surface, driving my mother berserk”. He has worked in design since he graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Product Design and Visualisation in 2000.
