Bandai's Ben 10 does the business

Bandai's Ben 10 figures were the best selling of 2008 according to NPD.
Publish date:

The firm topped the NPD top ten toys by value for the year with its 10cm action figure range. The Ben 10 15cm range and the Omnitrix FX Watch also featured in the list.

It is the fourth year in a row a Bandai product has topped the best seller list with Tamagotchi Connexion previously outselling all.

Bandai marketing director, Darrell Jones, said: "It’s fantastic news that the Ben 10 Alien Figure Collection was the number one selling toy last year meaning Bandai held onto the number one selling toy for the fourth consecutive year. Ben 10 has performed beyond all our expectations and with the launch of Alien Force we expect Ben 10 mania to continue in 2009. We are hoping to have similar success with the new products Bandai is launching this year."

Julia Smith from NPD commented: "The results from the NPD report highlighted the success of Bandai’s Ben 10 toy range throughout 2008. Not only is Bandai celebrating its fourth year of owning the top selling toy, but it was also the only toy manufacturer to have three products in the top 10 selling toys of 2008."

Big on Ben

With a new series of Ben 10 and yet more from the Power Rangers, don?t expect anything radically different from Bandai in 2009 other than the same solid sales performance in the boys sector. It does, however, also offer some interesting new girls? lines, as Ronnie Dungan found out?
