Bananagrams to celebrate tenth anniversary at Toy Fair 2016

The fruit-themed word game will sponsor next year's Bananagrams Lounge with a larger than life word grid for visitors.

After launching in the Green House at London Toy Fair 2006, Bananagrams is getting ready to celebrate its tenth anniversary by sponsoring The Bananagrams Lounge at Toy Fair 2016.

The Lounge will present a convenient and comfortable meeting point where visitors can discover whether their own name is also a playable word.

A giant word grid will be on display in The Bananagrams Lounge, featuring 814 given names that are also playable words in the game.

The grid has been ceated thanks to the the efforts of Deej Johnson, the author of The Little Book of Bananagrams who researched the name/word definitions of more than 17,000 monikers from around the world. The finished grid contains 3,362 tiles, intersects 836 times and – if you were to recreate it in actual tiles – you'd need 61 sets of Bananagrams.

Visitors to The Bananagrams Lounge can tweet their names with the hashtag #MyNameIsAWord to discover the definitions of their names.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Rena Nathanson, Top Banana at Bananagrams, Inc., said: “London Toy Fair is where it all began – the first place that we showed our game to the industry and the place where it first captured the imaginations of buyers.

Board Game Club celebrates first anniversary

The grown-up game night – established in March 2014 – saw Cartamundi provide exclusive limited edition Board Game Club playing cards, while Hasbro provided attendees with a special 80th anniversary edition of Monopoly.
