Asobi took the accolade for their encouraging approach to child creativity with the build-your-own cardboard robot. The winner was chosen by Karen Bailey of Igloo

The robot kit is supplied with all pieces pre-cut and pre-punched, so that the cardboard toys can be put together without glue or scissors thanks to the Calafant slot-system.The toys can then be painted and decorated.

The Calafant range includes a number of designs from castles and tree houses, to robots and dinosaurs. The toys are designed in Germany and made from high quality, recyclable cardboard.

Thierry Bourret of distributor Asobi said: "Calafant is an incredibly imaginative and versatile range and we are delighted that the robot won best new children’s product.

"It not only engages a child in creative play but encourages them to express themselves and play freely."
