The Little Humbugs is an award-winning book and doll series, featuring part human, part bug characters who buzz about the countryside protecting the natural world.

To date author Marghanita Hughes has had two reading books and one picture book published. In 2007 the first Little Humbug doll, Jasmine ‘the butterfly girl’, was produced.

Hughes’ husband, David, markets The Little Humbugs through Wildwood media, and has developed a strong following for the dolls in North America.

The concept is supported by an interactive website www.littlehumbugs.com, designed to get children involved in caring for their future.

The 12” dolls are soft bodied, are produced in high quality fabrics in vibrant colours, and stuffed with recycled material. Each doll comes in its own chrysalis pod, just like a real butterfly.

Commenting on the agreement David Hughes said: “We are delighted to be working with Asobi to launch The Little Humbugs in the UK & Ireland. They are totally focused on products which engage children with the environment and so are we.”

The dolls will be available in September and retail at around £15. The books are distributed in the UK by Gardners books.

Asobi is launching the first three dolls at the Home & Gift Fair in Harrogate in July (Stand DP1 45) and at the Autumn Fair at the NEC in September. (Stand 5A56)
