The UK's third largest cruise line, Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson) is expanding its partnership with board game firm Asmodee, bringing a selection of their games and activities to families travelling with the line.

Marella's Discovery, Celebration and Dream cruise ships visit such destinations as Central America, the Caribbean and South East Asia. While on board, guests can enjoy titles such as Dobble, Jungle Speed, Codenames and more.

“We were delighted with the feedback from our customers on Marella Discovery II after introducing the range of board games," said Chris Hackney, managing director at Marella Cruises.

"It was great to see that families once in a while wanted to turn off the tech and get together for some sociable, quality family playtime. In line with our strategy to offer the best family-friendly cruises, our ships create the perfect opportunity for families to explore board games together and this partnership further extends our on-board activity offering."

Ben Hogg, marketing manager at Asmodee UK adds: “We’re thrilled that our partnership with Marella Cruises has worked out so well on Marella Discovery 2 and excited to hear all about how the program is received on the other three ships over the coming months. This is a really interesting way for us to reach families when they are in the perfect relaxed state to discover new ways to play and socialise with each other.”
