Airfix has announced the launch of its Operation Herrick Afghanistan Airfix range. Available from late September, the models in this range are of modern day vehicles and troops which have served for over a decade in Afghanistan.

All products are scaled to 1:48, meaning all the equipment and built replicas can be used together.

This range is being launched exclusively with Model Zone on September 22nd, and will be released everywhere else from September 24th.

Darrell Burge, Airfix marketing manager, said: “We’ve wanted to offer some modern UK military hardware to our modelling fan base since the brand came under the ownership of Hornby. With the war in Afghanistan now into its second decade, we decided that it was time to recognise the scale of British efforts and produce a range of models that represent the modern equipment being used by our forces today. The products in this range make the idea collector’s item for any model enthusiast, or military man wanting to recreate key scenes from his life in Afghanistan.”
