The three models in the Airfix set represent the three main fighters flown from the base during the key years of the war, the Spitfire, the Hurricane and the Mustang.

Included in each of the gift sets is a pamphlet summarising the history of the site, an audio CD with WWII fighter pilots describing their experiences of flying these aircrafts, acrylic paints, brush and adhesive.

All of these famous fighters also come with decals to enable the finished models to carry markings applicable to squadrons that flew from Duxford.

Duxford, based just outside Cambridgeshire is now established as the European centre of aviation history. Outstanding collections of exhibits and regular world-renowned air shows combine to create a unique museum where history really is in the air.

Duxford was operational from 1918 and grew to be one of the main bases for the RAF before the outbreak of WWII in 1939.

The collection at the museum contains an aircraft from WWII, a narrative from a fighter pilot from the war and other added items to really celebrate the history of this now much loved museum.

A stand shown on the box can be purchased as an additional item from the Airfix website www.airfix.com
