4Kids Entertainment has joined forces with leading veterinary charity PDSA - in an arrangement that will see the pet charity benefit from merchandise sales of Artist Collection: The Dog.
The deal means that a proportion of revenue from every piece of merchandising featuring The Dog or its companion licence The Cat will go to the charity. PDSA provides free veterinary services for the sick and injured pets of people in need.
The Dog is backed by a comprehensive licensing programme. Eaglemoss launched a partwork collection earlier this year, while GB Eye produces posters, Winning Moves has The Dog Top Trumps, Zap has home textiles, Pedigree Books is developing a summer annual, Blueprint has a range of stationery and Ensobrados has recently added stickers and mobile phone charms.
4Kids has also signed its first plush deal for The Dog with Gosh International, which will launch a line of plush key rings, mobile phone danglers and talking plush.
"The Dog is the perfect balance of sweet and modern, proving popular with both boys and girls," said Stephen Gould, joint managing director of 4Kids. "Now our relationship with the PDSA, children can enjoy these marvellous products and help a great cause at the same time."
