2012 Toy of the Year Awards finalists are revealed

77 toys are nominated in 11 categories for the TIA awards ceremony.

The finalists for the 2012 Toy of the Year were selected from a pool of nearly 600 nominees and there are 67 unique products from 51 different companies. See below for the official 2012 TOTY teaser video as well as the full list of category nominees.

The eventual winners will be decided by consumers, mass and speciality retailers, media and members of the toy industry. These five ballots will be opened at a press conference on January 15th.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday February 11th as an opener to the 2012 American International Toy Fair.

Carter Keithley, TIA president, said: "The annual TOTY Awards celebrate and honour the creative spirit of the toy industry."

She added: "This event also supports the important work of the Toy Industry Foundation, which annually distributes more than half a million new toys and games to deserving kids across the nation and around the globe."
