One of the biggest toy companies in the world is 80 years old.
Lego supplied a quick run-through of its history to its thousands of fans on Lego Twitter page last week.
It also provided this charming animated video covering the history of Lego:
The company was founded on August 10th in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen. The business passed from father to son and is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the original founder.
The name Lego is an abbreviation of two Danish words 'leg godt', which means 'play well' in English.
It all started in a small carpenter's workshop and the iconic brick, which was first launched in its present form in 1958, has grown to become one of the world's most popular toy brands.
