Demand for Lego and Playmobil calendars has surged according to the site, above traditional demand at this time of year.
Data from the site says Lego calendars have been the most popular this year, with a 20 per cent increase in searches for them, whereas the volume of people looking for chocolate filled calendars declined by 24 per cent. A similar product from Playmobil saw interest surge by three quarters compared with figures for December 2009.
"Parents should brace themselves for their children having advent calendar envy when they come home from school today,” said David MdLoughlin, manager of Idealo.co.uk. "Toy advent calendars have seen huge interest this year, proving that when it comes to Christmas, parents are doing their research on prices to pull out all the stops and treat their kids."
