Mattel’s Polly Pocket is about to go global thanks to a slate of deals that will see the new animated series air across 16 international broadcasters.
Based on the hit Mattel toy brand, the new Polly Pocket series follows Polly and her friends as they embark on big scale adventures in their shrunken size. Produced by Mattel and DHX Media, the animated series premiered in Canada this July.
Sony Pictures Television’s POP channel in the UK, RTL Telekids in the Netherlands, Kidzone TV in the Baltics and Lagardere’s Gulli and TiJI in France have secured the new series. They are joined by Gulli Africa and Gulli Girl in Russia, TeleToon in Poland and AMC Minimax in Eastern Europe.
Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Middle East, Turkey and Greece are also all on board.
“Broadcasters around the world are snapping up the new Polly Pocket series because they know it’s based on a proven toy brand from Mattel that girls have loved for decades,” said Jerry Diaz, VP distribution, DHX Media.
“We are confident Polly fans worldwide will be thrilled to see their favourite miniature toys come to life on screen with this new series, and enjoy some really big adventures with Polly and her best friends.”
Earlier this year, Mattel relaunched Polly Pocket toys, featuring the original micro-scale and compacts that made it a hit in the 19990s. The brand has sold more than 10 million compacts over the years and the new product line nods to its heritage and surprise factor with an updated look.
