Police in the West Midlands have turned to LEGO to warn the public of burglars prowling for Christmas presents this year.

Using a short animation of a LEGO family home being broken into and burgled of its Christmas presents, the police are hoping to send a message to help cut crime this season.

The Mirror reports that the video highlights the dangers of enticing criminals by leaving their wrapped presents in view before the big day.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police, said: "It may be tradition for many families to wrap up their presents early and put them under the tree, but a special animated video is warning everyone to keep present hidden until the day.

"This year West Midlands Police has used some magic to bring LEGO bricks to life and spread a very important crime prevention message.

"Every year officers investigate heartbreaking cases where children literally have their Christmas taken away when crooks strike. This year, do your bit to beat the burglar."
