New Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer lands as Nickelodeon readies for series premiere

The 2D animated series will premiere in the UK simultaneously on Nicktoons and Channel 5 later this year, marking the first UK simulcast across Viacom owned channels.

Nickelodeon has released the latest trailer for the upcoming Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before the reimagined new series hits TV screens across the UK this year.

In the build-up to the hotly anticipated new animated series, Nickelodeon took to Comic-Con International: San Diego where the show’s voice cast held court to crowds of TMNT fans.

The new trailer drop and the Nickelodeon Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles panel at the US convention both arrive in the build up to the animated series’ debut on UK television on September 22.

The 2D animated series will premiere in the UK simultaneously on Nicktoons and Channel 5 later this year, marking the first UK simulcast across Viacom owned channels.

Episode one, titled Mystic Mayham, will be free to watch for one week from September 15 on Nick.co.uk, Nicktoon.co.uk and Nick Play, in which the heroic Turtles – Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey – discover they are not the weirdest things in New York.

From that date, Sky Subscribers will also be able to watch a sneak peek of episode one, along with four additional stories and four pieces of short film content exclusively on Sky VOD.

The action-comedy series follows the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter the world beneath the streets of New York City. In the months following its UK drop, the series will premiere globally across Nickelodeon’s channels and branded blocks in more than 170 countries and territories.

The boasts an impressive line up of guest stars voicing a host of new mutants and villains, including Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey and Pitch Perfect’s John Michael Higgins.

The series stars the voice of Omar Miller as Raph, Ben Schwartz as Leo, Josh Brener as Donnie, Brandon Mychal Smith as Mikey, Kat Graham as April O’Neil and Eric Bauza as Splinter.

WWE superstar John Cena appears as the villainous Baron Draxum.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first appeared as a successful comic book series before going on to become a successful animated TV show, a live-action TV series and four blockbuster films.

The property has also translated into a significant consumer products business with toys, apparel, home goods, video games, DVDs and more.
