National Geographic steps up efforts in kids' entertainment with key new hire

Helena Mansell-Stopher steps into the role of director of consumer products, boasting experience across Shopkins, Miraculous, Mattel, Marvel and more.

National Geographic is looking to step up its efforts in the children's entertainment space with a new focus on rounding out its UK licensing operations.

In the latest development for the firm's plans for expansion in 2018, National Geographic Partners has now named a new director of consumer products for the UK, with the remit of building out its offering for kids and adults alike.

Former Bulldog Licensing exec, Helena Mansell-Stopher has now joined the firm, boasting vast experience in the licensing industry and having seen success while working with hit children's brands including Shopkins, Miraculous, Electronic Arts as well as Mattel, Marvel and Hit Entertainment.

Based in London, Mansell-Stopher will report to Maria Maranesi, vice president consumer products and experiences, Europe and Africa.

"Building on our success over the past 129 years, National Geographic resonates with millions of consumers every month, across 172 countries and this expansion is testament to our commitment to the region," said Maranesi.

"Helena is both a highly skilled professional and her leading expertise will be integral to our UK business as we develop new ways to extend our sterling brand into products and experiences that are authentic to National Geographic and relevant to our consumers."

Mansell-Stopher, added: "This is an exciting time to be joining the National Geographic team.
