My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop apps on the way

Gameloft nets a licence to make mobile games based on the Hasbro girls brands.

Hasbro has signed up the renowned French app developer Gameloft to make a pair of mobile games for My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop. 

"Creating highly inventive and accessible digital play experiences based on our world-class brands continues to be at the core of Hasbro's mission," said Mark Blecher, SVP of digital media and marketing at Hasbro.

"We envision Gameloft to be a key player in the ongoing execution of that global strategy."

Gameloft plans to release the Hasbro-branded titles, which will be available to play on iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, before the end of 2012.

Gonzague de Vallois, SVP of publishing at Gameloft, said:
"Hasbro's position as a leading branded play company makes this a very strong alliance for Gameloft. The opportunity to collaborate on such globally recognized brands such as My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop not only allows us to build a unique and immersive universe for the characters we've all grown to love, but to take the much-adored franchises to the next level of digital play."
