In what’s fast becoming the year of the ‘mash-up’, IDW Games and Sony Consumer Products are now partnering for the launch of a Men In Black x Ghostbusters board game.

It’s a bit of a departure from the Freddie vs Jason or Alien vs Predator-esque kind of filmic crossover we’re all used to, taking on as it will the tabletop gaming world.

The game, Men in Black/Ghostbusters: Ecto-Terrestrial Invasion will be released in late 2019 by IDW and Sony Pictures Consumer Products and according to IDW it will ‘launch a multiyear agreement for a series of tabletop games for both franchises.

The IDW publishing arm has held the license to Ghostbusters for a number of years. The new game will feature the Ghostbusters team of the original two movies and the Agents J,K, L and Zed from the original Men in Black film.

Details released suggest that the game will feature both teams combining to deal with the danger of unnatural threats, with a slice of friendly competition.

“We are excited to bring these two iconic properties together along with an amazing group of development partners,” said IDW’s VP of new product development Jerry Bennington. “We love the fun story we are telling with this game and hope fans will bring it to the tabletop again and again.”
