The plot of the film is being kept secret, but it is thought it will be an adventure in the Lego world mixing live action and animation.

Lord and Miller, the duo behind Sony Animation's hit Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, prepared a presentation for both Warner and Lego in order to win the pitch.

After gaining approval from Warner, the directors attended Bricks by the Bay, the Lego convention in Fremont, to make their pitch to Lego execs.

A winning component for the duo was their work on "Cloudy." The project saw them take a 32-page children's book, develop it into a story with characters and turn it into a family movie that also appealed to adults.

Lord and Miller are currently developing a film based on the TV show 21 Jump Street, with Columbia. The plan is for the pair to tackle the Lego movie after that.
