Lego UK has promoted two current Lego staff to executive positions in a move attributed to ongoing business expansion.

Fiona Wright, currently Lego UK head of marketing, will become take on the new position of head of sales for Lego UK and Ireland, effective as of October 1st. Her current position will be taken over by David Buxbaum, current head of marketing for Lego US.

Marko Ilincic, MD of Lego UK, described the promotions as an important part of meeting his growth targets for his company.

“My ambition is to continue to aggressively grow our sales in the UK and Ireland. This will be driven through our core range as well as several new and exciting organically grown categories. In order to execute this, I must further strengthen the UK & Ireland team,” he said.

“This move will further solidify our long term growth plans and ensure the right balance of operational and strategic business development.

"Fiona brings tremendous strategic, commercial and leadership capabilities, plus masses of UK customer and brand knowledge. This will allow Fiona to hit the road running and provide much needed continuity to the ongoing development of this business.”

Ilincic also spoke of his ongoing intentions relating to David Buxbaum’s new role.

“David is one of our most respected marketers within the company and has worked for both our US organisation and at our global head office in Denmark, within various senior level Marketing roles,” he said.

“David’s appointment will ensure that the incredible brand momentum we have within the UK market is sustained and further developed, ensuring customers’ desire for LEGO products does not diminish.”
