Harry Potter film boosts orders of Kymera Magic Wand

Sales for the Dragon's Den invention have increased 350 per cent since movie release.

Record sales have been recorded by inventors Chris Barnardo and Richard Blakesley (pictured), for The Kymera Magic Wand on Firebox.com, following the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on July 15th.

The Kymera Magic Wand commands iPods, TVs and lighting at the flick of a wrist. Designed and developed in the UK, the wand is a motion-sensitive, button-less universal remote control using high-tech gesture recognition and a standard infrared signal.

Chris Barnardo, inventor of the wand, commented: "When we went on the Dragons’ Den we stressed to the Dragon’s that the magic and fantasy market is worth billions of dollars. We also mentioned that we hoped to see sales increase thanks to JK Rowling. But we never dreamed that the release of the final movie would increase our sales by over 350 per cent.

"A lot of our stock is selling out so fast that we’re working day and night to make sure we can supply enough wands to satisfy the appetite of Harry Potter fans.

Ryan Collins, head of buying at Firebox.com, added: "Firebox has typically seen an increase in TV and film memorabilia and merchandise sales when associated with blockbuster launches. The sensational success of Harry Potter has provided a great backdrop for the Kymera Magic Wand, with sales peaking whenever a new film is released.

"This year sales for the wand have been even more successful due to the mass consumer excitement for the final Harry Potter movie instalment."

Over 90,000 Kymera Wands have been sold since launching the product just over a year ago and the wand is now sold in France, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia and Japan.

Meanwhile Firebox.com is expanding its movie/TV and popular culture ranges, and recently launched a dedicated entertainment category. The section will sell products ranging from Blood Energy Drinks, to the Replica Batmobile.

The last instalment of the Harry Potter franchise over $6 Billion at the box office.
