BLE unveils The Licensing Academy line-up

The Licensing Academy at this year?s Brand Licensing Europe launches with 12 top quality sessions including two keynotes.
Publish date:

In 2009, the Licensing Academy is enjoying three firsts: brand new session categories (Trend Tracker, European Focus and Knowledge Builder); a focus on video games licensing and a breakfast seminar for independent retailers with advice on starting and/or building a licensed offering.

A Trend Tracker presentation from NPD in association with Planet Retail will also be of interest to retailers as it outlines key future growth categories for licensing.

A further two Trend Tracker sessions will explore how to create successful digital environments that engage with kids and how to weather the economic storm and survive the recession.

The daily European Focus sessions will address cross-border licensing issues and reflect the increasingly European nature of the event, which has attracted growing visitor and exhibitor numbers from Europe each year.

The six Knowledge Builder sessions are designed both for experienced licensing professionals and newcomers to the industry. The sessions will look at issues such as negotiating a licensing contract; royalties, pricing and financial know-how and taking licensed properties from screen to shelf.

Showcomotion children’s media conference will deliver a special report on the key trends in children’s television to open the first keynote address. This will be followed by a presentation from a leading producer giving insight into what gives a children’s programme its magic, and how to make it a success from screen to shop shelf.

The second keynote address will feature a leading figure from the world of children’s entertainment to be announced next month.

Event director Jessica Blue commented: “This year’s Licensing Academy is our most comprehensive offering yet and we’re sure it’s going to be even more popular than last year, when sessions were frequently packed to the rafters.”

Licensing Academy sessions are free for all visitors. Visitors must pre-register for a pass to Brand Licensing Europe at in order to attend the Licensing Academy. The full line-up of sessions can be found on the same website.

Brand Licensing Europe takes place in London on September 30th and October 1st 2009.
