Toy Trust aims for £300,000 in 20th anniversary year

The Toy Trust is 20 years old next year and will be celebrating in style with a number of big fundraising events that need the industry's support.

Firstly Andrew Brown’s amazing solo Atlantic rowing challenge begins next month and needs and deserves all your sponsorship support to help him raise £100,000 for the Toy Trust (

Other dates for your diary are the annual Toy Trust FUNdraiser Day at Rutland Water on Friday June 22nd. The 24-hour Three Peak Challenge will take place on July 6th and 7th.

Additionally the Toy Trust is asking for toy industry members to nominate local charities with whom they are connected and who need financial support.

The key criteria for support being given are that the charity must focus exclusively on children with disabilities or disadvantage and also the project must ideally be a capital project, eg a piece of equipment/ supplies or experiences that directly assist children. Finally the project should be below £5,000 in cost.

Application forms can be found on the BTHA’s website under the Toy Trust section and should be submitted to for consideration by the committee.

Toy Trust chair, Nick Austin, commented: "The Toy Trust has raised over £3 million for children’s charities both at home and abroad in the past 19 years - an amazing achievement that has made a positive difference to thousands children’s lives that are affected by disability or disadvantage.

"In 2012, our 20th anniversary, we want everyone in our industry to help us raise over £300,000 to ensure we can continue to support more children who need and deserve our help.

"As a business that makes its living making and selling toys, this is the least we can all do to give something back. So please get involved in our events and make a big difference."
