Toy industry charity The Toy Trust is on track to hit its £200,000 target following the success of its latest initiative, the Big Cambridge Challenge.

230 toy industry colleagues participated in this weekend’s big event that saw them cycle, run, walk and skydive their way to over £180,000 in pledges.

With more pledges promised, the total is now thought to be on track to meet the target of £200,000, which will now go towards the Toy Trust’s Giving the Gift of Play cause.

The money raised will go towards supplying play equipment for children’s hospices across the UK and is part of the Toy Trust’s commitment to supporting all 23 children’s hospices around the UK through money raised over this weekend’s event as well as a personal donation from industry veteran Richard Beecham.

“It was another amazing Big Challenge success story for the Toy Trust and it was great to see such a large number of people from all areas of the industry coming together to support our Giving the Gift of Play theme,” said Foye Pascoe, chair of the Toy Trust Committee.

“Our thanks go to them all and also the support crews that helped us to make it all happen, namely St. Neots and St Mary’s Rotary Club and the BTHA team, particularly Nick Austin and Matt Jones who yet again did a tremendous job of inspiring, leading and managing this event.”

Details of next year’s Big Challenge are yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, the Toy Trust’s annual Golf Day was held last Thursday, June 30th and raised a total of £2000 for the charity.

“Thank you to all those who attended the day in support of the Toy Trust, it was a lovely day and raised money for really worthwhile projects for deserving children,” said Clive Jones, Toy Trust committee member and Golf Day organiser.
