MGA has confirmed that it won’t be exhibiting at next year’s London Toy Fair owing to clashes in the industry diary.

The firm is the second to announce that it won’t be attending the London event, following reports that Hasbro has pulled out from the show owing to the same reasons.

The BTHA confirmed earlier this year that the dates for the 2016 event will clash with Nuremberg Toy Fair with London Toy Fair running from January 24th to 26th and Nuremberg commencing on January 27th instead of its usual slot at the beginning of February.

Despite the BTHA working hard to resolve the clash with various discounts, the situation has presented MGA with “a logistical nightmare” who has decided to focus its team and resources into one event.

MGA will still be attending other UK shows and events as well as reviewing the 2017 Toy Fair.

“Our relationships in the UK are very important to us and as such, we will be extending our showroom opening dates to fully support all of our UK customers large and small,” said Andrew Laughton, MGA managing director.

“We are also holding dedicated open days for our independent customers – these Independent Days will take place on December 8th, 2015, January 12th, 2016 and February 23rd, 2016.”

Meanwhile, Majen Immink, the BTHA’s head of Toy Fair operations and sales has announced that the group is sorry not to be welcoming both Hasbro and Zapf back to Toy Fair in 2016.

“Every year we do expect to see changes in the floor plan as some exhibitors won’t be able to return for varying reasons,” she said.

“We fully appreciate that the date change in 2016 will have impacted on some of our exhibitors more than others.”

The group has nevertheless been encouraged by the response from exhibitors and the positive number of returnees to the show.

“We have worked hard to mitigate the issues created by the change in the schedule but we do understand that we will not have solved the issues for every company,” continued Immink.

“We of course look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2016 and beyond.”

LeapFrog confirms Toy Fair 2016 pull-out

The company has cited the show’s clash of dates with Nuremberg’s Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair taking place between January 27th and Febuary 1st next year as its reason for not attending.
