The BTHA will be hosting a one-day training seminar for members on combating counterfeit toys.

This will be the first of a series of training session the BTHA is looking to run as part of its plans for creating a training centre for members on a range of industry issues.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, May 9th at the BTHA Head Offices in London Bridge and is free for members of the BTHA only.

Counterfeiting has been identified as a significant and growing concern for BTHA members, with estimates indicating that one in ten toys on the market is a counterfeit.

The toy industry invests heavily in the design and safety of products for children, with 63,400 products brought to the market in 2016 alone.

The fraudulent counterfeiting of these toy lines poses financial and reputational damage for the industry, as well as posing safety risks to consumers.

To help member companies better protect their intellectual property, the BTHA has put together a programme of speakers to help members utilise the services available to them when cracking down on counterfeit toys.

Confirmed speakers will include representatives from the likes of Trading Standards, City of London Police – Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit, Alliance for Intellectual Property and British Brands Group.

Further speakers are to be confirmed shortly alongside finalised timings.

To register, email the BTHA’s Majen Imminck at majen@btha.co.uk by Thursday, April 27th.
