BTHA launches the Toyograph

New way for suppliers and retailers to research restricted substances found in toys.
Publish date:

The BTHA has teamed up with Bureau Veritas to develop The Toyograph, a new way for suppliers and retailers to research which restricted substances are likely to be found in commonly used toy materials.

It lets manufacturers use a Bill of Materials to determine which materials are at risk of containing restricted chemicals above the limits specified in legislation or at levels that may be a safety concern.

It is intended to cover materials commonly used in toys to a defined legislative scope. It currently covers commonly used polymers and some metals, with the intention being that the materials covered will increase over time.

It is exclusively available for full members of the BTHA and Bureau Veritas clients.

BTHA believes The Toyograph will reassure retailers the products on their shelves will comply with the latest regulations.

The move comes ahead of the Toys Safety Directive requirements for chemicals on July 20th.
