The trade body has partnered with Play England to ask parents to pledge time to play this summer.

Two adverts have been produced that will run from next week through to September which encourage parents to think about making more time to play with their children, and more time to just let their children play.

The adverts encourage parents to think about the value that play has – as well as just being fun.

The campaign will run on a number of children’s channels, who have donated airtime, over the summer weeks.

The ad directs viewers to a website which will also launch next week – www.maketime2play.co.uk. The website will explain in greater detail the benefits of play and will give parents ideas of what to do to keep their children entertained over the coming months. A Facebook application will also allow parents to share their own tips and ideas of what to do with the kids too.

Play England have chosen to join the campaign to ask parents to pledge time. The aim is get parents to pledge two million extra minutes of play for their children over the next three months. The website will give parents ideas of things they can do to fill the time they pledge and events that are happening over the summer that they can take their children to - in particular Play Day on 4th August.

The BTHA says it would like to thank all those that have helped to make this campaign possible.

Members of the BTHA are invited to promote the campaign through their own websites. Web banners are available for this purpose. Please contact Natasha Crookes to find out more information about the campaign at Natasha@btha.co.uk or call 020 7701 7271.
