Our client is a long established US based privately owned manufacturer of board games. The company has developed, manufactured, and marketed more than 200 games and sells in over 28 countries. It already had a solid position in the UK market and through the recent acquisition of another board game company is now a top 5 resource for games in the UK.
In order to more fully exploit the market opportunities a highly competent and energetic marketing director is sought who will be tasked with increasing consumer demand and taking profit responsibility. This position will have extensive scope for personal initiative, for example in identifying and implementing novel ways of reaching the target consumer, and also looking for new product development opportunities throughout Europe. The marketing director will manage two PR companies responsible for social media, and also the advertising agency. Initially there will be no internal reports to this position but as the business grows, it would be necessary to build a marketing team. So this is a very hands on position.
The ideal candidate has the potential to develop to a higher level so it would be helpful if candidates had a grasp of profit and loss statements and have had profit responsibility. Candidates should be analytical and numerate to be able to interpret NPD reports, identify distribution opportunities and instruct the sales force accordingly. The place of work is in the home counties not far from London. Remuneration will be determined by the market, to ensure a highly competent person is recruited.
