Our client is a long established and dynamic privately owned European toy and game manufacturer with a successful North American subsidiary in Plano, Texas.
The company's sales continue to rise rapidly due to both acquisition as well as organic growth.
A country manager is to be recruited in order to drive sales in the Canadian market. This is a new position because previously Canada was managed from Plano. The country manager will be based in Toronto and report to the North American president.
The company already has a solid position in the Canadian market but there is great scope for growth, driven not only by dedicated sales focus but also by development of new lines and by continued acquisition of toy companies to provide new ranges to sell.
Suitable candidates will have several years of successful high level sales experience in the Canadian toy market. The company is highly entrepreneurial and dynamic, and the position would suit someone who is a passionate salesperson and is prepared to carry out any necessary task, particularly at the beginning before other employees have been recruited.
Someone who likes to work in a large highly structured company in which decisions are taken by committee so that business success or failure is not attributable to any one individual, is unlikely to thrive in this company.
It will appeal to someone who has the confidence that he or she will quickly contribute to growing the company and they will have the satisfaction of proving their worth. Some experience of managing advertising and promotional activities in Canada is also required.
