Ridley’s Games jazzes up its jigsaws with innovative duel format

Ridley’s Games, the design-led games brand owned by Chronicle Books, is launching an innovative jigsaw puzzle format for SS22. The range, called Jigsaw Duels, is a competitive puzzling game that pits players against one another and puts their jigsaw-piecing skills to the ultimate test.

In this two-player jigsaw game, each player has a 70-piece jigsaw to complete, and must race to be the first to finish it – with the catch being that there’s only one final double-sided piece that fits both puzzles, and the first person to grab this final piece is the winner.

Perfect for anyone looking for a different and dynamic spin on jigsaws, it has broad appeal and is aimed at families, kids and adults. The puzzles come with two picture guides and a wooden stand to hold the final piece.

Mindful of the environment, the Jigsaw Duels puzzles are printed on FSC paper with vegetable inks, and the pieces come packaged in paper as opposed to plastic bags.

Ridley’s has seen great global success with its collection of jigsaws over the years, including the bestselling Inspirational Women’s 1000-Piece Jigsaw Puzzle, with extensive placement in major bricks and mortar stores, eCommerce sites and indie retailers. Its jigsaws are recognisable for their premium giftable tube packaging and beautiful, bespoke illustrations, with this new format venture serving as a unique offering to complement its existing collection, with an aim to increase market share within the puzzle category.

“We were consistently receiving feedback from the sales team that accounts were looking for freshness in the puzzle category as the space was getting crowded,” says Emma Holmes, Head of Brand for Ridley’s Games. “We feel very passionate about the Puzzle category at Ridley’s and as newness is key to what we do, one of our brilliant designers ‘pieced together’ this innovative idea to game-ify the puzzle format, to make it more of a competitive experience. We’ve received incredibly positive feedback from accounts and are very excited to see how this format performs.”

The first two Jigsaw Duels are the Pet Pride Jigsaw Duel and House Plants Jigsaw Duel, RRP £8, with an on-sale date of 5 April 2022. The jigsaws will be available at major retailers, including Amazon, Waterstones, and Tesco, as well as on the Abrams & Chronicle website. There are two new additions in the range planned for AW22.
