Enjoy a greener summer with Bigjigs Toys

Bigjigs Toys is offering parents greener options for beach holidays and garden play this summer, with a selection of eco-friendly outdoor toys crafted from sustainable materials.

The green toys on offer include an Eco Spade made from wheat fibre, and a collapsible Activity Bucket and foldable Flexible Flyer made from food-grade, non-toxic silicone. The bucket and flyer can be rolled, folded, flexed and bounced back into shape without crease marks, making them perfect for packing in suitcases, backpacks and shopping bags for on-the-go play.

“Sustainability is hugely important to us, and these products allow for greener playtimes,” says Sam Ireland, Operations Director at BigJigs Toys. “Silicone is a much safer alternative to traditional plastic and is derived from quartz sand.

“We want our toys to stand the test of time, which is why we manufacture many of them from wood; it gives the next generation the full value of a wonderful resource.

When choosing wood for our toys, we thoroughly assess the quality and durability to guarantee years of play. The majority of our wooden train sets are made from sustainably sourced rubberwood. Rubberwood is a by-product of latex production, and recycling this wood reduces waste.

“We also have an FSC-Certified range of toys that are made from 100% responsibly sourced FSC wood. Bigjigs Toys are certified with FSC C147826.

“Furthermore, we have an eco-friendly distribution brand, Green Toys, which are produced in the USA from 100% recycled plastic milk jugs. Plastic milk jugs are food-safe and free from harmful chemicals such as BPA, PVC and phthalates.”

The Eco-Spade, Activity Bucket and Flexible Flyer are available in a range of colours including Cherry Red, Lavender Purple, Meadow Green, Ocean Blue, Lavender Purple, and more. Suitable for children aged 18 months and over, the items are priced at £2.99 for the spade, £4.99 for the flyer and £9.99 for the bucket.
