Jacqueline Jossa braves LEGO brick walk challenge for Red Nose Day

Surprised London commuters witnessed TV star and mother-of-two Jacqueline Jossa treading barefoot over LEGO bricks, to raise money for Comic Relief this Red Nose Day.

Onlookers watched as the former Queen of the Jungle took cautious steps along the specially designed LEGO brick walk on London’s Southbank, navigating her way across more than 30,000 LEGO bricks. The challenge forms part of the LEGO Group’s partnership with Comic Relief.

Jacqueline bravely took on the eyewatering challenge to the applause of crowds that gathered to watch. Members of the public who wish to show their support for Jacqueline’s LEGO brick walk challenge are being asked to donate to Red Nose Day 2022 via comicrelief.com/lego.

Jacqueline commented: “We’re serious LEGO fans in my family, in fact we even have a dedicated LEGO room in our house! My girls love their LEGO bricks and are always leaving them all over the living room, kitchen, hallway, you name it, so stepping on LEGO pieces is a common (and very uncomfortable) occurrence, as any parent will know!

I’m no stranger to challenges that push you out of your comfort zone and while it’s not something I’ll be looking to repeat in a hurry, it’s been worth taking on the LEGO brick walk to help raise money for such a brilliant cause. If this has made you smile, laugh or wince in recognition, please go ahead and donate to this year’s Red Nose Day.”

In addition, as part of the partnership, the LEGO Group is supporting Comic Relief’s schools engagement programme, providing Red Nose Day themed challenges and resources to encourage primary school children to get creative with LEGO bricks and inspire learning through play. Children and families are being challenged to use their creative problem-solving skills to create habitats for their Red Noses, from rainforests and rivers to the African savanna. Isabel Graham, Head of Marketing, UK & Ireland at the LEGO Group, says: “I’m sure many parents and families across the UK can relate to that feeling of accidentally stepping on a LEGO brick, but not many will have walked over 30,000. It’s definitely not one to try at home but, with Comic Relief known for inspiring people to do a whole range of challenges to help raise money for vital causes, this seemed a fitting LEGO-inspired one to help support their fundraising ahead of this year’s Red Nose Day on Friday 18 March.

Money raised by Red Nose Day will help people in the UK and around the world live free from poverty, violence and discrimination, and support people with their mental health. This includes funding organisations that are supporting people right now in Ukraine, and those attempting to cross the border.

The partnership with Comic Relief is just one of the ways the LEGO Group is supporting causes across the globe. In the 90th year of the LEGO company, investment in early years development is more important than ever, and the LEGO Foundation, which was set up by the founders of the LEGO Group to ensure millions of children around the world have access to play and learning, recently announced a USD 143 million global initiative to fund bold and impactful solutions focused on early childhood.
