Rubies and Smyths team up for costume design competition

Rubies and Smyths Toys are collaborating on a marketing initiative that aims to not only promote both industry-leading companies, but also help spark imagination and creativity in their core audience, children.

Titled ‘Create-A-Costume’, the initiative will encourage participants to design their own dress-up in either a super suit or princess dress template. One lucky winner for each category will be picked by a panel of industry experts to have their design turned into a real, unique costume made by Rubies. There will also be a £100 gift card up for grabs for each of the winners.

The competition will be hosted on a brand-new custom web page, createacostume.fun, where entrants can find everything they need to know about the enterprise along with downloadable templates for their designs and an upload area, where their costume concepts will be sent off for judgement.

Fran Hales, Head of Content and Marketing at Rubies UK, says: “At Rubies, we understand that a costume is brought to life by imagination. We hope this initiative sparks the imagination of children across the country and encourages their creativity.

“We love to see how the power of dress-up can inspire young people and help to build their confidence and creativity, and know that this competition will lead children to explore their imagination in a comfortable and fun setting. On top of all this, the prize – a complete custom costume for two lucky winners – is like nothing we’ve ever offered before. We can’t wait to see what our entrants come up with!”
