Aldi has announced the return of its fan favourite plush toy, Kevin the Carrot, and a host of new friends – including special guest Marcus Radishford.
This year’s Aldi Christmas advert is a take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, and follows the story of Christmas-hating Ebanana Scrooge, who is reminded of the joys of Christmas by good guy, Kevin the Carrot.
The advert, which first aired on 11 November, also stars England footballer, Marcus Rashford MBE, who provides the voice for character Marcus Radishford.
The latest range of plush toys allows children to recreate scenes from the advert, and includes Kevin (£3.99), Katie (£3.99) and their Carrot Kids (£3.99 for all kids), dressed in Victorian clothing. The range also sees the release of new characters Marcus Radishford, Ebanana Scrooge, The Spirit of Christmas, Banana Snowman, Peas & Goodwill and the return of Tiny Tom (£3.99 each).
A donation of £15,000 will be made to Aldi’s charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust, from the sales of selected Kevin the Carrot products.
Aldi has also announced that it will donate £10,000 generated from the sale of Marcus Radishford toys to the charity Magic Breakfast, which provides healthy school breakfasts to over 200,000 children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the UK.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi UK, says: “As well as committing to donate 1.8 million meals to families that need support over the festive period, we are also delighted to work with Marcus Rashford and Magic Breakfast to provide breakfasts to disadvantaged school children.
“Marcus Rashford has done some incredible work to make sure that school children don’t go hungry, and we hope that this £10,000 donation to Magic Breakfast will help to ensure children don’t sit in their morning lessons too hungry to learn.”
Aldi’s Kevin Plush Toys are available online and in-stores from today.
