Immediate Media launches official Numberblocks Magazine

Immediate Media Co is launching an official Numberblocks Magazine, based on the popular preschool series that encourages kids to master their maths skills through animated adventures.

The BAFTA award-winning Numberblocks sets out to help kids see how numbers really work, a core message that the new magazine will endeavor to uphold through a variety of ways for children to explore maths skills. Young readers will be able to practice number counting, number sequences, and number recognition.

The magazine is complete with activities in every issue, plus sticker sheets and maths cards, and the first issue includes One to Five click-together blocks plus a six-page super skill section all about number magic.

Fiona Campbell, publisher, Immediate Media Co, said: “We’re really excited to be launching Numberblocks Magazine! It’s been the biggest brand on our CBeebies Specials title with sales of 50,000 – 67,000 copies, among the highest in the preschool market.

“The reactions we’ve had to Numberblocks from readers, parents, retailers and even teachers have been overwhelmingly positive. We’re looking forward to helping even more children have fun and develop their confidence with numbers as they head into school and beyond.”

Joe Elliot, creator of Numberblocks, added: “Numberblocks Magazine is the perfect way for young children to take the number fun and learning off screen and get hands-on with the colourful print activities, colouring, stickering, stories and more that the Immediate team do so well. It’s a very clever complement to the show.”

Co-produced by Blue-Zoo Animation Studio and Alphablocks Limited, and commissioned by BBC Studios, the series teaches children numeracy including simple arithmetic. Each episode has been carefully crafted with the help of the NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics) to deliver the essential numeracy skills that build good number sense and a solid foundation for a lifetime of maths success.

Numberblocks has gone on to gain huge audiences and it’s been nominated for the prestigious BAFTA, Prix Jeunesse and The Japan Prize Audiovisual Pre-school awards, and received a BAFTA for Children’s Preschool Animation in 2019.

Numberblocks is also featured among the DfE’s recommended resources for home learning and is part of BBC Bitesize Daily. Just like the show, the monthly magazine is designed so children can have fun whilst learning essential number skills.

The first issue of Numberblocks is on sale from September, 8th 2021. Numberblocks airs daily on CBeebies with all episodes available on BBCiPlayer
