John Testori, the owner of the popular Jersey toy shop Bambola Toymaster, a long serving member of the UK toy buying group, is to be appointed to the Board of Directors of Toymaster Ltd as a non-executive director.
Testori will take up the role from September 1st this year. Having joined the Toymaster buying group in 1989, Testori and Bambola – a family run toy shop situated in St Helier, Jersey – has been a member of the group for the last 32 years.
Testori’s appointment to the role of non-executive director will be placed before the shareholders for their approval at the 2022 Annual General Meetings in Harrogate, scheduled to be held on the evening of May 18th at the Toymaster May Show.
A statement issued by Chris Blatcher, Toymaster chairman, said: “I am pleased to announce that Mr John Testori of Bambola Toymaster, St Helier, Jersey is to be appointed to the Board of Directors of Toymaster Ltd, as a Non-Executive Director on 1st September 2021.
“I hope you will all join me in supporting John’s appointment and wish him every success in serving the Members of Toymaster in the future.”
Bambola Toys was founded some 60 years ago by Testori’s father, known to the local shoppers as Mr T. The former cocktail barman drew on the family’s Italian roots to come up with the shop’s name, Bambola, which means ‘doll’ in Italian. Founded in 1961, the company sourced much of its original stock directly from Italy.
Bambola Toymaster has traded from The Parade in St Helier since it first opened, but will be marking its final Christmas trading period in its long serving location this year, as Testori and the team plan to expand the business’ second store in Don Street and trade from one location from autumn 2022.
