DKB Toys appoints former WHSmith Travel buyer, George Stone to its UK buying team

DKB Toys and Distribution has responded to the recent account growth and new client acquisitions with the appointment of George Stone to the UK buying team.

Previously a toys and games and soft toys assistant buyer for WHSmith Travel, Stone joins the company as a junior buyer with two years’ experience in developing and establishing working relationships for WHSmith.

Working with key licensees including LEGO, Ty, Mattel and Winning Moves, he helped to deliver year on year growth across both categories. Stone was also actively involved in delivering bespoke ranges across a number of retail channels including airports, train stations and hospitals and assisted in bringing a number of new suppliers into the fold while working with existing partners to grow their sales.

His new role within DKB will focus on growing the firm’s portfolio of trend-setting product lines. Working closely with MD Chris Lohmeyer, Stone will be responsible for analysing sales performance and ensuring stock availability in order to continue to develop a platform for growth across the business.

“With two years buying experience in the toy industry, I bring a varied skill-set to the new role at DKB,” said Stone. “I have an inherent understanding of retail trends and am passionate about the products and companies I work with.

“As a big kid myself, I can see what is needed to make a range or product a success at retail and am keen to use my collaborative mindset to make sure deals work for everyone involved in the process.”
