Tonies looks to ‘revitalise children’s desire for the outdoors’ with Enid Blyton’s The Famous Five

Tonies has outlined its mission to ‘revitalise children’s desire to play outdoors’ this summer with the launch of its latest children’s audio story-telling figurine in the form of Timmy the dog from the popular Enid Blyton book series The Famous Five.

The new Tonie arrives in time for families heading out on their summer staycation this year, telling the classic Blyton stories under The Famous Five: A Short Story Collection compendium. The stories follow the adventures of The Famous Five and their long summer days spent in the English and Welsh countryside.

With nothing but a picnic lunch in their baskets on their bikes at the ready, George, Dick, Julian, Anne, and Timmy the dog wander into adventure in each story in the collection.

A screen-free, wireless audio system with a vast library of children’s stories and audio to engage with, the Toniebox has been billed as the ‘must-have staycation essential for families this summer.’ The Toniebox holds charge for several hours.

‘Tonies has brought the nostalgic and classic stories of the Famous Five by Enid Blyton back to life to ignite discovery and a passion for outdoor adventure in children,’ read a statement from the firm.

The Save Outdoor Education Campaign estimates that 2 million children across the UK have missed out on school trips this year due to the pandemic. Tonies now hopes to inspire children to connect with the adventures that generations before them enjoyed and revitalise a desire in children to get back outdoors.

To celebrate the launch of the new Famous Five Tonie, the firm has teamed up with West Lexham in Norfolk to offer one lucky family a two-night stay in a treehouse surrounded by nature. The winner will also receive a box set of the complete collection of Famous Five books, and the new Famous Five Tonie, along with a Toniebox.

West Lexham is an eco-friendly wellness retreat near Kings Lynn in Norfolk. Populated with treehouses, bell tents, cabins, lakes and wildlife, it’s been highlighted as ‘the ultimate family getaway and provides the perfect spot to enjoy tonies®’ range of stories and songs around a campfire this summer.’
