Funko Games hits us with a heavy dose of nostalgia with The Goonies: Never Say Die board game

Giving us all good reason to do the Truffle Shuffle (like we needed it), the pop culture specialist is tugging directly on the nostalgia strings with the launch of its newest board game, The Goonies: Never Say Die.

Yes, down here it’s our time… to relive the action adventure of the ’80s classic, as Funko Games unveils its story-driven strategy game that will see players take on the role of the iconic Goonies – be that Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Data, or Sloth – to overcome cryptic puzzles and challenges.

One player will is the Goondocks Master, controlling the film’s fearsome foes including the outlaw family The Fratelis, or the legendary pirate, One-Eyed Willie, as they guide the story through nine unique adventures. The other players must work together as The Goonies to overcome them.

“This story-driven strategy game from acclaimed design studio, Prospero Hall, is perfect for fans of classic role-playing games, while the fully scripted gameplay is streamlined to allow the charm of the Goonies to excite every fan of the film with no previous experience required,” read a statement from Funko Games.

“Start off the summer in style and reunite with your friends and family to watch the original kids on bikes classic, and play along with The Goonies: Never Say Die.”

Will the Goonies discover the legendary riches that will save their homes, or will they follow the fate of Chester Copperpot… and never see the light of day? The Goonies work together to win or lose as a team, while the Goondocks Master wins or loses individually.
