Hornby unveils its younger years PlayTrains range for 2021

Hornby Hobbies is tapping into the younger years market with the launch of PlayTrains, a new range of remote controlled, battery train sets and accessories.

The new PlayTrains line features working lights, sounds, three speeds in both forward and reverse, and an easy to clip together track system that enables youngsters to set their enthusiasm for the toy train hobby into motion.

Additional items in the range include individual locomotives, rolling stock and track packs, and more, allowing for ‘endless opportunities to expand and build a PlayTrains world.’

Each train in the collection boasts its own personality, with facial features and names to match, including Flash, Bolt, and Thunder. Kids wil be able to embark on new adventures with the core characters via the PlayTrains Portal, a hub that will host further content including a PlayTrains kids zone, character stories and personality profiles, educational learnings, videos, and more.

Hornby’s new PlayTrains range is scheduled to pull into stations across the UK this summer.

Montana Hoeren, head of brand at Hornby, told ToyNews: “We are so excited to have finally announced the news that we are bringing a brand new children’s range of model railway toys to the market.

“We see so many children and families at exhibitions and after a long time we will have something suitable to them to enjoy, allowing them to start building their special model railway world.”
