Orchard Toys has kicked off its Virtual Toy Fair in good humour with the launch of a video-skit starring the firm’s own sales director, Simon Prest, and Toy Fair TV presenter, Gavin Inskip.
Produced to capture the levity of the London trade show in a year that sees the doors of the Olympia shuttered in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the skit features a socially distanced encounter between the pair as they make their way into the halls of the Toy Fair. Or not.
Realising their mistake, the two are instantly transported into the Zoom call-sphere where, Prest showcases the Orchard Toys offering for the year ahead, while Inskip delivers his trademark Toy Fair TV presenting skills in the manner Toy Fair attendees are accustomed to.
The video is hosted on a dedicated website that the company has set up exclusively for the Toy Fair season www.orchardtoyfair.com.
The Orchard Toy Fair website not only hosts the spoof show reel but gives retailers the chance to book a virtual meeting with their Account Manager and presents videos of each of the company’s new lines for 2021. The company’s broadest launch to date covers a variety of themes, including unicorns, dinosaurs, mermaids and more, plus a range of price points and educational values.
Prest said: “We are obviously disappointed not to be at the toy fairs this year, but we wanted to do something fun and a little bit different, which is in the spirit of how we approach the toy fairs.
“The website is a great platform to be able to share our new range and also offers customers a simple solution for meeting with their Account Managers in the virtual world we’re all living in.”
Orchard Toys is offering an extended Toy Fair period from now until 26th February to give retailers and buyers the opportunity to book a virtual meeting at their leisure. All those customers who book an appointment for a virtual meeting will receive an exclusive ‘no-show offer’.
