The tabletop games company Exploding Kittens, the team behind the anarchic, millions-selling self-titled card game and last year’s hit Throw Throw Burrito, has unveiled three new games, set to hit the market within the coming days and weeks.
The launch kicked off with the arrival of A Game of Cat and Mouth on December 15, followed by a pair of games suited for two-players in the palindrome-powered tug of war Tacocat Spelled Backwards (released on February 28) and the innovative word game A Little Wordy (released on April 11).
The three new titles will be supplied to the UK toy trade through the board gaming giant, Asmodee.
A Game of Cat and Mouth sees two players or two teams use magnetic catapults to propel balls through a cat’s mouth in the middle of the board. The game’s box folds out to become the venue for the fiercely competitive, magnet-powered gameplay, ‘making it both stylish and perfect for travel.’
Portability is high on the agenda for Tacocat Spelled Backwards, too, in which players engage in card-playing duels to bring Tacocat closer to their side of the board with the humour that made Exploding Kittens a hit gaming brand.
Meanwhile, A Little Wordy is a tile-unscrambling game for aspiring geniuses and would-be word wizards. Offering a fresh take on the genre of tile-based word games by focusing on players’ ability to make clever choices rather than rewarding the player with the biggest vocabulary, it’s a thoughtful and strategic game that challenges players to figure out their opponent’s chosen secret word.
Retailers will be able to get a closer look at all three of these titles at the third edition of AsmoFair, Asmodee’s pioneering virtual trade show running from January 17 to 23.
Including a 360-degree tour of a fully built show stand and a preview of all of the company’s most exciting products and key ranges for 2021, the fair is open for meeting bookings now at asmofair.co.uk.
