‘Buy now, pay later’ option brought into The Entertainer and ELC as toy shop becomes among the first to adopt Klarna

The UK family owned high street toy retailer, The Entertainer, has become the first major toy retailer to offer Klarna as a payment option to all online consumers shopping across its thetoyshop.com and elc.co.uk platforms, allowing customers to buy now and pay later in regular installments.

The payment option has been devised to provide better flexibility for shoppers, particularly when purchasing more expensive products in the lead up to Christmas. With Klarna, shoppers are able to buy now and pay later, meaning they can pay for their purchases in installments over a longer period of time.

Shoppers will have the option to pay the full amount in 30 days or pay in three equal installments to spread the cost over time. There is no additional interest or fee when using the Klarna payment option.

Rob Wood, head of online at The Entertainer, said: “We’re delighted to be the first major toy retailer to team up with Klarna to give shoppers this flexibility. We know that for many shoppers, Klarna is a favoured method of responsibly spreading the payment of purchases and balancing family expenditure and we hope by adding this function, it makes their lives easier when shopping with us.”

The move arrives amid a year of upheaval for many across the UK as coronavirus lockdowns have spelled changes of circumstances and income for families across the country. The implementation of the new payment method could be one to alleviate immediate concerns around the affordability of Christmas and encourage products sales as the UK prepares for its second national lockdown later this week.
