US toy giant Walmart reveals its own top toy picks for Christmas 2020

The US toy giant, Walmart has revealed its own top toy picks for the Christmas season, featuring no less than 36 of the products its tips as the hottest toys for 2020.

The list, understandably features a large portion of Walmart exclusives, including lines from LEGO, Mattel, and Ryan’s World, but manages to span a spectrum of leading licenses, tech toys, interactive favourites, surprise toys, and those that promote screen-free play.

“This year’s top Rated by Kids Toy List reflects the shift we’ve seen in toy trends and behaviours this year,” said Steve Ronchetto, vice president of toys at Walmart. “Toys play a critical role in families’ lives as they spend more time at home and parents seek ways to keep kids engaged with learning-based play.

“More than any year before, we’re seeing strong interest across toys that stem from digital platforms, like kid influencer-created toys, interactive and educational toys, screen-free indoor entertainment, and toys for active outdoor play.”

Top picks across the licensed toy sector for 2020 include the Frozen 2 – Magic in Motion Elsa Doll, Blue’s Clues & You Peek-A-Boo, and PAW Patrol Dino Patroller, alongside the Star Wars Dark Saber and two Walmart exclusives in The Child Bop It and LEGO Death Star Final Duel set.

In the tech toy category, Walmart has thrown its weight behind the VTech KidiZoom Creator Cam. It’s also listed three Walmart exclusives in the Sensory FX ASMR Mega Bar, Instax Mini 7S Seafoam Green, and onn. 8″ Tablet Pro.

Interactive play has been catered for in its selection of seven top toy picks, featuring the Disney Princess Vanity, Gotta Go Flamingo, FurReal Mama Josie Kangaroo Pet, Squeakee, and LOL Surprise OMG Remix Dolls, The Walmart exclusives in this category are the My Life As Hello Kitty Dolls, and the Barbie Farm Barn Playset.

In surprise toys, Treasure X – Sharks Treasure features alongside Hatchimals Crystal Flyers, Na! Na! Na! Ultimate Surprise, LOL Surprise Clubhouse Playset, and The Animal. The exclusive is the Ryan’s World Vending Machine.

Outdoor play features nothing but Walmart exclusives this year, and for those interested this includes the Jetson Mars Light Up Kick Scooter, Semi Truck and Trailer Ride On, the Jetson Plasma Light Up Hoverboard, Razor Black Label E100 Electric Scooter, and the NERF Fortnite DG.

Finally, the screen-free indoor entertainment sector completes the top toys for Christmas selection this year with Kinetic Sand Sandwhirlz, Little People Launch & Loop Raceway, VTech Helping Heroes Fire Station, Hot Wheels Sky Crash Tower, Beyblade Burst Rise Hypersphere Set, and Megalodon Storm RC. The Walmart exclusives for this category are the Spark Pupp Piano and the Tic Tac Tony.

Kids who want to experience the Top Rated by Kids toys for themselves can do so via Walmart’s newly launched Walmart Wonder Lab. Created in partnership with eko, the platform takes kids into a choice-driven experience in which they can unbox, test, and play with the season’s hottest toys in the virtual space.
