Subbuteo makes its return to UK TV in new ad spot starring John Motson

University Games has secured the sports broadcasting legend John Motson, as the new voice of its Subbuteo TV advert. The TV campaign featuring the renowned voice will launch on August 10th, marking the first time the table football has been seen on UK TV in a matter of decades.

The games and puzzles specialist recently released an updated version of the Subbuteo Main Game alongside an Official England Subbuteo Game and Player Set. In conjunction with Hasbro, this summer, University Games will launch a layered and heavy weight media campaign including, TV, online and print to support these product releases.

The TV campaign will commence on 10 August 2020 with bursts throughout October, November and December supported by ongoing social media and print coverage.

Having spent half a century behind the microphone commentating on World Cup Finals, European Championships, FA Cup Finals and thousands of club matches, Motson’s iconic voice is instantly recognisable and the perfect fit for the iconic table football game.

MOtson said: “It has been a pleasure to work on this commercial, Subbuteo is a game that I remember well and I have many happy memories of playing it with my own family. I hope this new TV advert will help ignite the passion and bring the game to a whole new generation of fans.”
