Ciaran Fitzpatrick steps down as Toymaster Chairman as Chris Blatcher takes on role

Changes to the Toymaster Board will see the longstanding Chairman, Ciaran Fitzpatrick step down from his role of 13 years. The toy industry stalwart will continue on as a non executive director and Chairman of the Merchandise Committee.

Taking on the new mantle of Chairman of the Toymaster buying group is Chris Blatcher (pictured) of JAC Stores. Based on the Isle of Man, JAC joined Toymaster in 1995, while Blatcher went on to become a director of Toymaster in 2016. He will also continue in his other role as Chairman of the Marketing Committee.

Meanwhile, a further change to the Board will see Andy Taylor step down from his role as a non executive director from August 1st this year. Taylor’s employer, Ramsdens of Grimsby joined Toymaster in 1992. Taylor served n the Marketing Committee for a number of years before ‘being poached’ by Fitzpatrick to serve on the Merchandise Committee until 2015.

Taylor joined the Board of Toymaster in 2007, but steps down to focus on Ramsden’s business, which no longer sells toys.

In a communication sent out to Toymaster members and trade press, Fitzpatrcik said: “I want to thank my other Non-Executive Directors Roger and Julian and our Executives Ian, Colin and Yogi for all their support and effort during my term.

“A special thank you to all the team in Northampton for helping to make Toymaster the super company it is today.¬†These changes have been in the pipeline for the last year and are all about ensuring the proper succession for the continued success of Toymaster.

“Looking forward to seeing you all at future shows after the Virus and it is safe to-do.”
