Smyths Toys to take up former Mothercare location in Chester

Toy store giant, Smyths Toys has found a means for expansion amid the ongoing pandemic, with confirmation that the retailer will be opening a new store in Chester.

The family-run toy retailer is set to move into a unit previously occupied by Mothercare at Chester’s Greyhound Retail Park, building on its regional network with stores already in Bromborough and Wirral.

A planning application put forward by agents Firstplan, on behalf of the retailer said: Owing to the vacation of the unit by a previous operator, Smyths Toys are now the confirmed tenant for unit 4.”

The news comes amid the current lockdown measures across the UK that has seen all Smyths Toys store temporarily close as the world handles the coronavirus pandemic. Smyths Stores is one of the many toy retailers still providing a delivery service.
