What has a new LEGO and Nintendo partnership got up its sleeve for Mario?

Something fun is being built… is the tease that came from LEGO’s social media account in reference to a new partnership with the video game studio, Nintendo and a secret LEGO Super Mario project.

The tease was drip fed via LEGO’s Twitter page yesterday, March 10 – now officially recognised as Mario Day (Mar10 – a play on the title character’s name, of course) – with a short video featuring a LEGO-fied Mario, and little else to go by.

The video was posted by Nintendo, Nintendo Europe, and LEGO, featuring a Mario LEGO figure, with the tag line “something fun is being built”, while Nintendo teased “stay tuned” as LEGO simply said, “It’s a me, LEGO Mario.”

The snippet of info has been enough to start the rumour mill turning, with theories spanning the launch of a new Mario-themed LEGO play-set, an LEGO-themed Mario Amiibo, or a new LEGO take on a Mario game.

Eager fans can expect to find out the answers soon.
